[Netherlands 2019] Amsterdam - 1-Hour Canal Cruise & Red Light District [Part Two]
[Amsterdam 2019]
City Walk / The Pancake Bakery / Tulip Museum / Lovers Canal Cruise / Sunset / Red Light District
Start wandering around on foot~♪
The first canal we saw! So many bikes parking by the bridge, so not really a good photo spot lol.
Said hi to a doggie on boat!
( ゚▽゚)/
Finally can see more cars here in big city hahaha~
But still lesser than any other city I've been to lol..
The weather was good everyday :D
I like the windows here.
They look like those windows I used to draw on little houses XD
A picturesque city indeed. :D
One of the famous restaurants - The Pancake Bakery!
It's one of the oldest one so the food is more toward traditional style Dutch pancake. It's a dim-lighted, cozy little shop with a romantic ambiance.
We shared the cheese & bacon one (as we want something savoury)
It tastes like crispy, buttered pizza hahaha... It also tastes good with adding maple syrup! (°∀°)b
This is our last free museum - Tulip Museum!
Really small, nothing much to see, so I won't recommend it to people without city pass lol.
But if you are interested in the history of tulips in this country, this is the right place. :)
Not sure would it be more real tulips to see if in spring tho. TT
The sky is getting darker so it's time for taking the Canal Cruise!!
(Purposely wait till the sunset time XD)
The "LOVE" neon signboard is quite eye-catching...
Ok let's take that company's cruise!
ー( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
Ok let's take that company's cruise!
ー( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
Well, since Amsterdam is famous with its canals, taking a cruise should be worth it~ (and of course because we had the free ride hahaha)
Free audio tour guide with different languages is provided.
The good thing is you can open the window!
Felt so near to the water!
Taking photos from inside.
The gradient sky is always my favourite ♥
Ahhh sunset~ (๑♡⌓♡๑)
The city slowly lighted up.
The sky was dark when the 1-hr tour was finished.
We had passed by a sparkling bridge which we thought was pretty so we purposely took 3 stations subway to see it lol. There was nothing to see...even no one was there! = =
It was freaking cold outside so I STILL DON'T KNOW WHY WE DECIDED TO COME?
We quickly departed to our final destination of today:
Red Light District!
Well, it's prohibited to take photos of the prostitutes working there to respect their jobs.
So I just took a photo when it was around 7pm, no one was working this early.
It got livelier at around 8pm.
You could start seeing...what you expect to see here...
This is a special cinema... The tickets are...very expensive...!
If I'm rich I'll definitely give it a try lol...Out of curiosity of course...(;¬_¬)
I was actually intrigued by this unique culture after the walk, so I made some research once I got back to hotel. So these are my findings:
First, not all prostitutes are voluntarily doing this job, they might be victims kidnapped by mafia like the movie Doing Money.
As for prostitutes who treat it as a proper job, they cared about privacy because they are also normal people like you and me. They have parents, family, friends, and even children. So of course, they don't want people to spread their photos on the internet without their consent.
Also, the local residents are actually aware of the over-tourism problem in Amsterdam. When a city became too touristic, the annoyance caused by mass tourists is just a minor issue, the biggest issue will be the residents' living quality.
Earning the tourists' money is easier than doing other jobs, so souvenir shops are everywhere. Of course, touristic sites (the whole Amsterdam city in this case) are notorious for charge everything higher, while the high price level does not discriminate between residents and tourists... Because of the high demand, shops targeting tourists are more than educational and healthcare facilities. Venice is one good example of over-tourism.
These are some issues that made local people protesting against the legalization of prostitution.

Foods here are expensive and we are not that hungry.
So, we tried the typical "Chinese" takeaway!
Taste bad actually! <(`^´)>
Huhu we originally wanted to try this...but why is it so expensive?!
So let's be a good kid and eat chocolate! :D
It tastes like some kind of herb, very healthy eh.
And look at what I found in the supermarket - chocolate beer!!!
It tastes like beer mix with cocoa powder...not good nor bad eh.
