[Japan 2023] Osu no Mori Cafe Kodama in Nagoya

Before the opening of Ghibli Park in November 2022, the Ghibli studio team went to Nagoya for site visits and posted about this little cafe - that's how it got popular I guess.

Located in Osu, the popular district in Nagoya, it's an easily accessible cute spot for a meal/date for Ghibli fans. We came here for an early dinner, a 15-min bus ride from our AirBnB.

It's located in the second floor of the building. The little white fairies from Mononoke Forest were welcoming us right from the entrance :)

 

Cuteness overload even before entering the cafe...

The cafe accepts reservations only via Insta as the staff prepared the best to welcome you. We immediately felt the love upon the seating... We are seated in the Kiki area!

 

Now we understand why they don't accept walk-ins because this is their standard of welcoming their guest :)

This little store upstair is well decorated with hundreds of official Ghibli merchandise and books - I seriously think everything is here.



And the seating area is split into different movies. Other than Kiki areas, there are also Howl and Totoro areas - these are what I recognised at least.


I wonder if the door can be opened...fire exit to Howl's castle? XD

 

Calcifier is working hard to warm up the room~


XMAS is coming!

 

Not only the environment, you can also feel the efforts in the food and beverage - truly worth the price, which is affordable too! You will think this kind of themed cafe would be overpriced but not the case here.

My pick would always be Laputa, the first Ghibli movie that put stars in my eyes~ ✪w✪

The company of Jiji and the white cat really made a difference haha~ 

 

The back kitchen looks like a gateway to the ryokan from the Spirited Away!

First, take a look at their posts and see if they have released the schedule of the month you'd like to visit - "おやすみ" means CLOSED.


Message them your name, date & time of visit, and number of people and wait for their confirmation.

If you'd be late, just message them to keep them posted! We were late for 15-30 mins but it's fine since we informed them, just that we have less time to enjoy (the time limit is around 1.5 hour since your reservation time)
